Disneyland Paris - Day 2 - Tuesday 17th November 2015

Alison's birthday, Cafe Mickey, Disney Village and Meeting Characters

Despite having very little sleep the night before, I woke up full of life and excited about the day ahead. Due to the three days of mourning in Paris, the two Disney parks were closed but we were planning on spending the day doing a spot of shopping in Disney Village. We also had a meal booked at Cafe Mickey for Alison's 27th birthday too.

I had a quick check of social media, making the most of the free wifi in the hotel, before I had a quick shower. Only downside to our bathroom was how high the side of the bath was so it was quite tricky to get in and out off. I got myself ready then headed down for breakfast. I had read online that characters were due in the hotels due to the parks being closed. When we arrived at breakfast in the Manhattan restaurant, we bumped into Chip N Dale who were being as mischievous as ever. I couldn't not meet them. They messed around with my pen, hitting one another then put my hood up. I also got great hugs from them too. It was then onto breakfast. Unfortunately my appetite hadn't returned so I couldn't fully enjoy the yummy food that was on offer. I did manage a little bacon and a crusty roll, washed down with some apple juice.

Afterwards,  we headed into the village, getting our bags scanned as we entered. It wasn't raining at this time thankfully. We had some time to spare before our reservation at Cafe Mickey so we hit the various shops while I went snap happy taking photos of everything.

The village was very quiet at this time and had Christmas music playing from all the speakers. The train station was very busy though with what I assumed was people going home. I did some shopping, buying more pins and other bits and bobs. I didn't spend all my money at once though.

At 11:45am, we arrived at Cafe Mickey for our 12pm reservation. We were the first ones there and the first ones allowed inside. We were given a table right beside the conservatory. We had only sat down a few minutes when Mickey Mouse and Pluto appeared. I was so excited about meeting some characters though I didn't mind who we got to meet. I had heard rumours of some of the princesses being in Cafe Mickey due to Auberge in Disneyland park being closed so I was keeping my fingers crossed that we'd meet at least one princess. We managed to meet: Mickey, Donald, Pluto, Goofy, Suzy, Perla, Chip N Dale, Mr Smee, Cinderella, Princess Aurora and Prince Philip, so 13 characters in total. I was that overwhelmed, that I couldn't even eat my dinner. I had the roasted mushrooms for starters, the burger and waffles for main followed by the Mickey cup cake for dessert. The food was lovely but due to the excitement, I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked. I was so happy to have met so many characters, including 2 princesses and a prince.

After our meal, we headed back into the village again to do some more shopping. The next plan was to visit the Disneyland Hotel as I wanted a look around it but Alison suggested we go back to our hotel so we could leave our shopping in. I was very glad Alison suggested this as, as soon as we stepped into our hotel, I spotted a mop of very long blonde hair with flowers in it. It was only my favourite Disney Princess, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. I freaked out so much and we raced to join the long queue. Mulan was also there with a much smaller queue. I then decided that we leave our shopping with concierge as they can take it up to our room for us. Roland came down to meet us in the queue. I honestly was like an excited child, worse than the children probably. Rapunzel was so lovely and commented on my necklace (which is from poundland), asking me if my prince had bought it for me. When I told her I had bought it myself she turned to Flynn and told him straight that ladies can in fact buy their own jewels. She also said she'd let on a floating lantern for Alison's birthday and also talked to us about frying pans. I was so chuffed about meeting them both.

We didn't really get the chance to speak to Mulan after that as she was going for her break but we did say a quick "Hello" to her. Mulan is actually a new addition to Disneyland Paris as she has never appeared there before. Alison and I returned to our room to chill out for a bit and I changed into my Disney princess top and jeans. I also used this time to charge my phone and check social media again.

Alison and I headed back downstairs again to visit the shop. We bumped into Pinocchio and Gepetto and Alice and the Mad Hatter just roaming around the hotel. I was gutted that this wasn't a permanent thing in the hotels. As someone who really enjoyed meeting characters, this was something I really did appreciate. So a massive THANK YOU to Disney for doing this for us hotel guests.

We headed back into the village, going to the Disneyland Hotel to pay it a visit. I was expecting some characters in it but there were none which I was gutted about. I found out later on that all the princesses had been there at some point. We had a wonder around and visited the gift shop. It is a beautiful hotel and one day I will stay in there, it's my aim. We then headed back to the village to McDonalds for tea. We visited a couple more shops too before we headed back to the hotel to chill. I grabbed a shower then watched a top 10 count down on things to do in Disneyland on the TV. It was then off to bed as we had an early start the next morning.
